We follow the National Numeracy Strategy across the school. We believe that the direction of the strategy, teaching children a range of methods for calculation, is one that supports confidence with number.
Opportunities to apply knowledge and skills to a range of situations is important.
We use "Abacus", an up to date published scheme in Key Stage 1. In Key Stage 2 we use elements of difference schemes, which give children opportunities to practice, investigate and consolidate their knowledge.
