The children are taught through Themes, learning skills and attitudes as well as knowledge about the past. They are given full access to the National Curriculum which covers significant episodes and characters from the past of this country as well as civilisations which began in other parts of the world.
They are taught to contrast and compare life in the past with their own lives. They have visits to sites of interest such as Roman sites on the Mendip Hills.
The history of their immediate locality of Weston super Mare is also studied.
