In Term 4 the nursery class became “Super learners” as they learnt all about Superheroes.

The children shared Superhero books and comics and learnt about the special powers each Superhero has. They were asked to think of the special power they would like to have if they were a Superhero. They made their own Superhero masks and wore them to show off their power.

They wrote letters to their favourite Superhero and drew a map to show him/her how to get to their nursery.

They used  Ben Ten, Woody and Buzz counters to play number games and enjoyed learning a new counting song about  5 Superheroes coming to the rescue, “up, up and away and off one goes”.

This term the nursery have been listening to and acting out the story, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’

They set off around the nursery garden and school grounds to explore the swishy, swashy grass, the deep,cold river, the squelchy, squerchy mud, the big,dark forest and the narrow, gloomy cave.

 Back at nursery they worked creatively to represent all the things they’d seen.

They made grassy and watery pictures with paper and paint. They mixed clay and water to make their own mud and they used clay, twigs and leaves to make trees.

When they eventually found a bear in the cave in the nursery garden they run away as fast as they could and decided they would never go on a bear hunt again!
