Term 4 2022
Year 5 have had another busy term! Even though the weather has been gloomy, we have felt really happy because in Geography we have been learning about Sunny Spain! We have looked at whereabouts in the world Spain is, identified its borders, the surrounding oceans and seas and investigated the human and physical geographical features of this beautiful country.
We were really excited to have a Samba drumming workshop, led by Roger Sansom from North Somerset Music Services. We played a range of different drums and explored how to combine different rhythms. Some of the drums were almost as tall as we were!
March was especially busy as we celebrated World Book Day and Red Nose Day. During World book day, we came into school wearing our bedtime clothes and brought our favourite teddy and story book. We shared our stories with children from Year 2 and we looked at a picture book called “Leaf” to inspire our writing.
In English we have been learning about the amazing achievements of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary who were the first men to conquer Everest in 1953. We have done diary writing and researched facts about Everest before writing a persuasive argument about why we should protect our environment.
We have been lucky to have had Jimmy, our sports coach, for our indoor PE sessions. We have looked at improving our skills and thinking creatively. We have also started to learn how to play a new sport, volley ball, which is great fun!
