Home learning tasks are changing. As well as daily reading please keep up times tables practice, especially of x2, x5 x10 and x3, that would be super. Along with this, we have put together a collection of websites which can be accessed at home. Not all of these require the child to use the tablet/phone or laptop. They are websites which can be used by yourselves to set challenges too. If you want any further advice or help with this, please get in touch using the Facebook page or at yr2@windwhistle.extendlearning.org.
We’re happy to post suggestions on Facebook also so let us know if that’s something you might like. Year 2 are not going back to school yet so we will continue to support you in any way we can. All the home learning from previous weeks will remain on school website so feel free to go back and complete things that haven’t been done. If your child is finding the Year 2 work from websites below too difficult please adjust and use Year 1.
- BBC Bitesize – This links takes you to the Year 2 part of BBC Bitesize. They upload an English, Maths and another lesson daily. They don’t have to be done on the day either, you can look back to see what takes your fancy.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/z7s22sg/year-2-and-p3-lessons/1 - White Rose Maths – This link is the daily Year 2 maths lessons from White Rose. The videos are great especially the recap part at the beginning. The sheets are not available to download any more but the videos still have some great learning on them.
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/ - Times tables Rockstars – A great website to practice timestables. The children that use it regularly are really enjoying it so have a go! We can send your child’s log on details if you haven’t already got them.
https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school/student - Twinkl for parents – Twinkl is an education resource company which has got home learning opportunities on it. You have to sign up but it is FREE. The suggestions for English tasks on here may be beneficial.
https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resources/parents - Oak Academy – this has been put together by teachers and school leaders nationally in response to the home learning situation. It is online based but has some good resources
https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/year-2#subjects - Snappy Maths – this is a free resource website. It has loads of printable resources based on the maths we’d be teaching in school. Sheets can be printed or the questions can be copied on paper at home.
