Year 6 Summer 2020

Dear Year 6,

Well I hope you have had the opportunity to have a restful break over half term. What wonderful weather we shared!

Here is your home learning for the Summer Term

We have changed the way it looks a little but hopefully I will be able to guide you through how to access the new resources.  The work from previous weeks will still be on the website so, if you like, you can go back to some of the ones you didn’t complete.

We hope you enjoy the tasks. It is also important for you to read every day as reading is the key to everything!

Please continue to share your learning on our year 6 Facebook page: we love seeing what you’ve been doing. If you have any ideas for fun activities to try at home, please share them too!

Oak National Academy – Online Classroom

·             Google-Oak National Academy; you do not need to login for this website or click on

https://www.thenational.academy/

·         Click on Classrooms - Find Lessons – Schedule - Year 6

·         This will show you a whole week’s worth of lessons that cover; English, Maths, PE and Foundation.

·         You need to choose a date at which to begin. I would like you start with the week beginning the

18th May as I can guide you through the expectations of the week. Just click on the day you need – starting from Monday

English; This week we will be looking at the genre – Diary Entries

Each lesson will have an online video to watch which you can interact with and pause when guided to or you need to.

The teachers will tell you what you need for each session too. They are easy to follow and rewind if you are unsure of what has been asked of you.

Maths; This week we will be looking at Co-ordinates and Shapes. Again each has an interactive lesson with teacher

guidance which you can stop and pause when guided to or you need to slow it all down.

Foundation; there is a mix of lessons daily ranging from Art through to History, Science and Music.

     PE with Joe Wicks!

There are some great activities on the Activity Club page for you to look at too!

I hope this is easy to follow. If you have any problems please contact us either through our Facebook page or via our Year 6 email

and we will get back to you ASAP.

Don’t forget that you should still be accessing Time Tables Rock-stars and reading plenty of books! You can still access the daily 5 as it updates every day with new questions though just remember it takes a week for the answers to be added.

All home learning can be accessed through the Oak National Academy in the following weeks and follow the same process as above. Just choose your week and you’re off!

Please stay safe- enjoy the weather whilst it lasts and keep trying your best. We all know that you can do it and are very proud of the effort that you have put in so far.

Very best wishes

Mrs Walker, Mrs Frampton and Miss Guttridge

 Week 1

How are you all? It seems very strange not coming into school, especially after the Easter Holidays, when we should all be gearing up for SATs. We do hope that all your families have managed to avoid this horrible virus and that you are managing to keep both well and busy. We have put together a timetable - for approximately 1 hour per day – of activities that we hope you will find both challenging and enjoyable. It is really important we all keep brains busy and continue to build upon everything we have learnt this year so we are ready for secondary school. Please remember to post work you have completed on Facebook so we can see how brilliantly you are getting on.

Year 6 staff miss you all very much. Look after yourselves and your families. Very Best wishes, Mrs Walker, Mrs Frampton and Miss Guttridge
