Early Help

Early help is a way of getting extra support when your family needs it, but getting it as soon as difficulties start, rather than waiting until things get worse. It’s for children and young people of any age. It can last as long as you need it for.

Here at Windwhistle Primary School, we understand just how complicated family life can be. From time to time there may be situations where you need extra help and support. We have what we call an offer of early help. This might be (but is not limited to):

  • Housing support
  • Support for benefits/managing debt
  • Food bank vouchers
  • Help with School Uniform
  • Support for finding a job
  • Emotional support
  • Support for your mental wellbeing
  • Support for managing your child’s behaviour
  • Domestic violence
  • Substance misuse
  • ‘Everything has got on top of me’ support

Please come and talk to us. Sometimes it might be referring you to another agency with your consent, or providing direct support through school. There are many ways in which we can help!

If you feel you need some support, please contact one of the following members of school staff via the school office on 01934 629145.

Support can be provided in different places and by different people.

North Somerset Council Early Help service has an online directory to find help and information about:

  • parenting classes
  • health and wellbeing
  • education and attainment
  • employment and training
  • family support
  • crime and anti-social behaviour
  • domestic violence
