Welcome to Year 3
Year Three is such an exciting year as the children progress from Key Stage 1 and up to Key Stage 2. It is a year full of great interactive lessons and a wide breadth of curriculum knowledge and skills.
We start the year by travelling back in time to the Stone Age where we learn how life changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. Our art unit is linked to our history learning and we create cave paintings and animal sculptures. In science we will explore rocks. Learning about how different rocks are formed and their properties. Our geography focus will be on the British Isles.
In Spring term, we will find out all about Ancient Egyptians and the significance of Pharaohs. We explore structures in design and technology and make our own gift boxes. In our science lessons we will look at animals including humans, focusing on our skeletons and muscles.
During our Summer term, we will learn about the different biomes around the world during geography. We will explore light and shadows in science and pneumatics machines in design and technology. As a celebration of the school year ending, we will design and make our own sandwiches for a picnic on the field.
Throughout the year in our PE curriculum, we will focus on our personal best as well as trying a variety of different sports.
