Welcome to Year 1!
Year 1 is such an exciting year full of hands on learning where children can discover, explore and develop their independence skills.
In Geography we will be learning all about the world around us! We will be creating messy maps, going on a treasure hunt to explore our school and as the year progresses, we will explore our wider surroundings including an exciting trip to the beach.
During this year children will progress from their early years programme of study to more structured learning.
We will kick of the new school year by learning all about toys! We will be start off by exploring a variety of everyday toys before moving on to looking at toys that were popular when our parents and grandparents were children. We will be finishing the topic by hosting our very own toy museum.
In DT we will be making toy cars, bunting, funky fruit skewers and eggsellent Easter pop up cards!
In Maths we will explore addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using a variety of different practical resources. We will also have a fabulous time learning lots of different counting songs and rhymes. By the end of the year, we will all be super mathematicians!
We will have the most incredible year full of fun, laughter and hands on learning!
